In the afternoon we will move to the Castellana Caves, a complex of caves underground karst. The visit includes a path of 3 km and 70 meters deep in amazing shapes and surprising colours given by ceilings of stalactites and stalagmites floors and we will arrive in one of the most beautiful caves in the world: the white cave. We will follow a fascinating journey to relive the history of a millennial vine. There will be wine tasting with typical products of Apulia and the local dish: lu granu stumpatu. After lunch we will move in the town of Gallipoli. The ancient town of Gallipoli is comparable to a small island nestled on the water and connected to the mainland by a bridge. Rich in ancient palaces, and churches in the Baroque style, the town was built by the Greeks as a kind of labyrinth where all the streets are crossed into one another, between the houses with white walls and blue eaves, marking the paths that lead all to the walls of the city overlooking the harbour. Finally departure to Lecce, dinner at the hotel and free evening.
This time we will make a bit longer journey to Bari. We are going to visit the Basilica of San Nicola to attend the Eucharistic mass. Once you exit the Basilica we will tour in the historic center of “Bari Vecchia”, the old town, going through the history of the city, fragrances and colours that come from the most ancient houses. The tour through the narrow streets of the old town will culminate with a typical lunch in Bari. The afternoon will be dedicated to relax and shopping in the streets of Bari. Finally return to the hotel, dinner and free evening.
