If you are a sports and nature lover, you will have the opportunity to explore Apulia from "within", through a bicycle tour. There will be daily pedalling about 55 km. You will spend every night in a different town and we will carry your luggage while enjoying the beauty of the Puglia countryside.
We star from Polignano a Mare on the coast, then we go inland through Alberobello, Ostuni. We will go to Gallipoli and see the southernmost part of Apulia, then return to Lecce where we will finish the tour.
We supply bicycle, helmet and all the necessary equipment and a guide will always be with you during the tour.
Day 1: arrival
Arriving at the airport and transfer to Polignano a Mare. Accommodation in a 4 * hotel and meeting with the tourist guide. You can dine in a typical restaurant in Polignano a Mare. The country is famous because it gave birth to a great singer like Domenico Modugno, whose "Volare" song is well known. You can admire the historic centre, its beach "Cala Monachile" and the many balconies overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
Day 2: Castellana Caves, AlberobelloBreakfast at the hotel, check-out and ready on the bicycles. We will go today to the largest karst caves in Italy! The caves of Castellana are underground for over three kilometres in an atmosphere of evocative power and magic, reflected with stalagmites and stalactites grown with ancestral rhythms. All this is the result of the erosive action of the water that for millennia slowly dug its path to the sea. We will take a rest here and, if you want, you can admire the Caves on a guided tour (not included). After this wonder of nature, a light footpath will take us to the fairy-tale village of Alberobello and its curious "Trulli". Check in at 4 * hotel in Alberobello and dinner in a typical restaurant.
: approx. 50 km
Day 3: Martina Franca, Cisternino, OstuniBreakfast at the hotel, check-out and ready on the bicycles. From this unique village, we will cycle through the whole Itria valley along dry walls, olive groves and green pastures. Our first stop will be the baroque city of Martina Franca, beautiful for her artistic expression and popular among the good food lovers for the "capocollo", a Slow Food Presidia and the "bocconotto", a sweet delicacy. We will take a small break in a typical oil mill and taste some types of oil. Not far from Martina Franca, we can admire Lorocotondo, a small village that overlooks the heart of the valley. The lands here are devoted to the cultivation of the vine, and therefore, high-quality wines such as Locorotondo Bianco Doc. Then we head to Cisternino to visit its beautiful historic centre making it one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Finally we will reach the White City par excellence, Ostuni. Check-in at 4* hotel in Ostuni and dinner at a typical restaurant.
: approx. 50 km
Day 4: Manduria, GallipoliBreakfast at the hotel, check-out and bus transfer to the town of Manduria. Manduria is famous for the wine production, one among them the Primitivo. Day 5: Santa Maria di LeucaBreakfast at the hotel, check-out and ready on the bicycles. From Gallipoli we will cycle along the coast where hidden sandy bays, surrounded by pine forests, alternate with low rocky beaches. Wild nature and few villages on this coast and we will reach Punta Ristola, the extreme limit of the Apulian peninsula, the heel of Italy. From the promontory, where the "Devil Grotto" is located, we can enjoy a wonderful view over the port of Leuca and beyond Punta Melisso which houses the Sanctuary and the lighthouse. Check-in at 4* hotel in Leuca in the early afternoon and boat excursion to admire the marvellous sea caves. Return to hotel and dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 6: OtrantoBreakfast at the hotel, check-out and ready to cycle. We leave Leuca to go on a panoramic stretch of road overlooking the sea. Between gentle climbs we will arrive at the Ciolo canyon, then at the small bay of Acquaviva, at "Castro di Virgilio", at the spas of Santa Cesarea, always keeping the sea to our right. Finally, we will reach Otranto, the most eastern town of Italy. This small city is rich in history and memories, having always been a link between the western and the eastern world. Check in at 4* hotel in Otranto and dinner in a typical restaurant.

We take the bicycles and cycle along the Alimini lakes and along the coast, reaching the WWF "Le Cesine" Nature Park: the last piece of the coastal swamp that once extended to Brindisi.
